This is a chronicle of the alewives of Slough Pond in one migratory year- from the spring equinox thru the winter solstice. The journey of alosa pseudoharengus from the open sea where they live to inland fresh water ponds to spawn (give birth) is an ancient ritual following a biological imperative. This is a study of the biodiversity of one inland habitat, the home pond of thousands of alewives over hundreds of generations.
